Does this effect the Edinburgh Investment Trust in any way ?

The dilution no, but the news did move EDIN from an unhealthy premium to a decent discount.

I bought as I expect the premium to return but this is not a LTBH due to the unfashionable performance fees.

I'll buy in for the dividend I think and see what happens after as regards an exit. Knowing my luck they'll suspend it :)

Smiley noted, but ITs have to distribute income or retain for reserves. EDIN is neutral for the latter do divi seems safe.

  • They can buy back shares I guess ?

Bump the thread when its at a discount :)
  • The discount to NAV has started to slowly widen. How far it will go is anyone's guess. It was nearly -2% yesterday

I'm tempted too. Basically because the discount is approaching 3%. I don't see the walls coming crashing down if and when Barnett takes over. What puts me off pulling the trigger is that all the trusts in this sector seem to be sitting at near highs, although EDIN is now better than most in this respect.

I'd planned to wait until the end of the month and see how it's looking, then decide.

It's tempting me also, giving some thought but might buy in over the next few days.

Blimey, you're all making me look like Mr Impetuous!

In my defence, I'd just given a mild trim to a holding in European property that was up 60% over purchase so had a fair few £k in cash and and similar under-allocation to UK equity income.
