I have just had a very dissapointing experience with online bathrooms.com. Three weeks ago I ordered a suite , bath, shower, enclosure, toilet, basin and taps. They arrived on a pallet tightly wrapped and I signed for them but wrote on the docket "un checked" once brought into the house and unwrapped we found that the toilet, basin and pedestal plus the glass shower enclosure were all badly smashed.
I contacted them by phone and was told usually it would basically be tough you should have checked before accepting them. However as I had signed unchecked they would replace the broken items. I quickly checked the bath and it appeared fine, roll on a couple of weeks and I have the replacement items but when the plumber unwrapped the bath it has a big hole in the top corner.
Anyway the upshot is after another phone call is that as its been 3 weeks, they won't accept it back as I could have done anything during that time. I did point out that it was highly likely that as everything else was broken on the same pallet that the damage was obviously caused then too.
They have however offered to let me buy another one and pay the delivery charge, but I'm not keen on sending them any more of my money!

First, it doesn't matter whether you sign checked, unchecked or striped with pink polka dots, it doesn't affect your consumer rights. They are compelled to replace damaged goods.
You have a 'reasonable amount' of time in which to check the items, and in the case of big DIY items this can easily be weeks or even months. Tell them you won't tolerate their nonsense and if they don't replace or refund you'll report them to Trading Standards.0 -
Thanks for the reply , I have been trying to look for some info about consumer rights regarding online faulty goods but advice is either for online purchases or faulty goods not both.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
