An intermittent leak is not really possible-it either leaks or it doesn't.
A leak in the supply pipe downstream of the meter is your responsibility, although some WA's will offer a one-time free repair, so check what AW's policy is. Otherwise, it's a plumber you need.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Thanks. I know a leak won't be intermittent. I know it's normal for pressure to drop during peak times, and in our case that drop is from 1.5bar to 0.25bar.
If there's no leak, then my view would be that AW should be supplying sufficient pressure that it stays at 1bar during peak times (i.e. it should be 2.5bar the rest of the time). They might disagree with that though!
If there is a leak, I found some stuff on the AW website about how we can test for one on our property, and who they recommend to fix it.
First things first, I'm going to use my pressure gauge on our neighbour's outside tap tonight if they don't mind, to see if their pressure is the same as ours. Detached houses, each with our own meter cover in the pavement outside, so I don't think we share a supply pipe. If our pressures match, I'm hopeful that means there isn't a problem on our property.
There's definitely no leaks inside our house - no signs of any water in the house or loft and this problem has been building for about six months (as I said, we initially thought it was just faulty showers). Could be one in our supply pipe though. We haven't noticed any soggy patches in the garden, and the drive hasn't collapsed yet, but it could be a slowish leak!0
