Mis-sold Ultimate Rewards Account?

Hello,
A couple of years ago my mum went into Halifax, she thinks to possibly put the amount of her overdraft up, and the woman she spoke to told her that she would have to switch from her current account to the Ultimate Rewards account because she had an overdraft (she was led to believe that she didn't have a choice in changing). She was told she'd have to pay £15 a month extra for the overdraft and she just agreed coz she thought it was something she had to do. She's also not very savvy when it comes to stuff like this so it wouldn't come to her to question such things. Anyway she was under the impression that she would have to pay off this overdraft for her to be able to switch back to a current account so when she went into the branch today to say she wanted to pay off her overdraft, the man she spoke to asked her if she wanted to move the overdraft over to the current account - which got her thinking that she could have done this all along.

Going back to the Ultimate Rewards account, most of the extras include breakdown cover, travel and mobile phone insurance. Now, she doesn't have a car, she barely goes on one holiday a year and her mobile phone isn't worth enough for her to benefit from any insurance on it. So the account definitely wasn't suitable for her from that perspective.

Funnily enough, she said a few months after this occurred she went into the branch to query something about the account and the man she spoke to asked what the girl looked like who sold her the account, which we believe sounds slightly suspicious. She doesn't work there anymore anyway!

So in summary, does anyone believe that we have any grounds for putting a complain forward that my mum was mis-sold this account? Thanks!

If she is not happy with something, that sounds like good cause for complaint. :)

    Update:
We complained and Halifax contacted my mum. Apparently she was offered the Ultimate Rewards Account as a cheaper alternative to what she had. With the current account she was living in her overdraft, so she was having to pay a £1 a day for it. Ah well!

So what you are saying is that the bank fully her reviewed her situation, and advised her the best course of action.... Outrageous, dont they realise they are supposed to rip everyone off.
