Equifax and Experion - Is there another way?

Hi.

I have used Equifax just the once.

It was an experience that still disgusts me as they quite clearly make money by abusing the information you give them.

I was given a bad credit rating thanks to some bad behaviour by MBNA, something they have now admitted too(after over a year of fighting) and have cleared my credit rating of the deafault.

However, i have recently been rejected from a credit card application which i know should make sense, salary etc all good. I want to check my credit rating but really would rather not use these underhanded companies. When i used equifax when i had a bad credit rating i was immediately bomarded with rejcted applications for store credit cards and other bad debt companies and i don't want to attract such attention again. I also note that the vast majority of other people also despise these companies and have also had similiar if not worse problems. So basically i would love to know if there is another way to check credit so that people who so desire can avoid these underhanded sociopathic organisations.

Rgds,
Chris.

  • You could confine yourself to just checking Noddle if you don't like the others, but it's not as widely used by lenders so may only give you a limited view.
  • Why not tell them to stop using your info for marketing purposes? See what they come back with

Lenders obviously disagree. Not uncommon as borrowers perception of their themselves differs widely from the view lenders take.

Don't understand this. Do you mean that you registered with Equifax and they applied for cards on your behalf? Of was it that when you registered with them you then just saw the information that existed about you already?

Because I don't think anything will draw attention to you unless something in your credit record changes.
  • I always find my credit score is better on Equifaks then Expedia not sure why though as they both hold the same info

You should be grateful you aren't using Noddy. I'm sick of my credit score being stuck on 5 - I'll never get a loan at this rate. Think I'll swap back to one of the others and try my luck there.
