  • B&M have real 6ft trees for £19.99 this year, they also had more expensive ones but the cheap ones looked gorgeous. We are going to get ours on Sunday :)
  • I picked up the £15 one from Tesco and was shocked at how good it was. Need to assemble yourself but it worth the effort, looks so much more expensive than it is. Can't recommend enough

I've never had a real tree but really fancy getting the ikea one. Will I need to buy a stand, if so where is the cheapest place to get one, or could I make one ?

    Thanks in advance

Thought I'd share this as I just got one for myself and it is way better than the more expensive tree we had previously.

Have a look online for a stand. One that holds water is best, reduces needle drop even more.

If anyone is on a real budget, then you can do what I had for years growing up. My dad would go and trim one of the hedges from a business park nearby that was entirely made up of 25ft tall leylandii. He would put these into a bucket of sand. You can put lots of branches in to get a reasonable shape, you get the smell of a real tree because its part of the pine family and it doesnt drop any needles at all. Aside from that, it stayed green all over Xmas and was free. So if you have some leylandii, or know somewhere they grow, ask if you can trim a few branches (most people will be happy as it saves them a job) and you are sorted. Just beware of the branches moving in the sand as they can (ours did a few times) topple over.

  • You buy a £25 real Christmas tree from 06/12/13 and get a £20 voucher to spend in the new year.

Can't add link as I am a new user.

We bought one of the Ikea Christmas trees last year and it was really great value - looked lovely and lasted for the whole Christmas period without dropping needles. Last year I think the deal was only on over one weekend so you knew you had to go at that particular time. As the deal is spread over a few weeks this year, from the 6th to 22nd December, I was just wondering if anyone knows about stock availability - is it a limited amount of stock that is likely to sell out on the first weekend or will they be having more stock in as the days/weeks go by? Thanks in advance for any inside information! :)
