Our ASDA has potted ones for £20
Sainsburys had some small ones at half price @ £5
B&M if you have one near also has cut and potted trees going cheap0 -
Keeping an eye on this thread because I just don't know what to so this year.
We adopted a puppy and she is just over a year and loves pulling stuff up in the garden. She is going to be a nightmare with the tree, so leaving it as long as I can. Traditionally, we have gone out around the 19th to buy a £20-£30 real one. I haven't had a fake one since I was a child. I am really sad at the thought of not having a real tree. The smell of a fresh one is what makes it Christmas for me but it is getting harder and harder to manage a real one every year. Add to that the new dog, budgeting and a case of hives when I took last years' down on Jan 2, I just don't know what to do.
Do I buy one of these cheap fake ones?0 -

I always feel like the worlds biggest spoil sport saying this, but... I think real trees are mildly poisonous to cats and dogs. I don't have a real tree for this reason. It might be worth googling and having a read about. But I've also found my cat chews my fake tree, which isn't clever either, so I have a small one on a very long pole so it's out of the way. Whatever you have it probably best not to let a puppy around it unsupervised. So so SO tired of being ripped off, and mislead
Hope sharing saves some pain.0 -
Could you have a small real tree i a pot that you could put on a shelf or table so you get the smell?'Yaze whit yeh hive an ye'll niver wahnt'

Thats a good idea. We used to put ours on a table to stop the kids fiddling with the decorations and lights - I was always worried they'd chew the lights and electrocute themselves! They are big enough now that we don't have to worry.
My friends had a fake one with lights integrated and their cats chewed it to bits.
I don't reckon your dog would touch one if it was a spikey one would it? It would hurt its nose!0 -

You may be right. I had a 13 year old dog and he was fine with real trees. The cat was interested the first few years but she leaves it alone now. They probably do cause allergies at least. We are always careful to not leave them unattended for very long.auntymabel wrote: »Could you have a small real tree i a pot that you could put on a shelf or table so you get the smell?

My dog is a Staffie cross and I don't think much would put her off.0 -
