Bank account -mis-sold

Hi

I've had a lloyds bank account for 15 + and I was sold a package which I believed I wasn't eligible for. Some of the benefits it wouldn't cover me I.e mobile cover - contract should be on my name when it been on my girlfriend name for the past 10 years. I'm not sure what other benefits I got. I was covered for aa breakdown when I dont own a car

Do I have any chance getting my Money back? I don't have any documents for my old account so I haven't got anymore information. How can I get more information about the previous accounts I have had for my bank account?

Are you really saying you've been paying for something every month for the past 15 years and you don't think what you are purchasing is suitable for you???

I assume you mean weren't eligible for the benefits of the account.
If you believed you weren't eligible for the benefits then why would you agree to pay for that type of account in the first place?

Ok so at this point, we're pretty much in a situation where everything that has ever been sold to us by a salesperson, that we subsequently realised we never needed, we want our money back ? ... 5/10/15 years later ?

If you didn't know that you didn't need it, how did the salesman know you didn't need it ? and why would a salesman have to care if you wanted something he was selling you ? It's fundamentally not how sales works.

Apologies for the very frank post but you have zero chance of getting your money back.
  • i admit i was silly to take bank account i thought "the banks wouldnt sell me something which i needed need" but i guess i was wrong :-(

I'm afraid I have to agree with the other posters on this one. You were sold a product where you received benefits which were applicable to you. Unfortunately, some of the benefits (i.e. mobile phone insurance) were not covered and were possibly missold. I would very much doubt that you would receive any form of compensation from them, or returned money.

One thing you have not answered is how many of the benefits you have been able to use?
  • Doesn't the Lloyds AA cover apply to you not the car. So you're covered no matter who's driving or who owns the car. That's how it works at Halifax anyway.
How would the 'salesman' know you would still not have got a phone contract in your own name in 15 years time?
