Npower meter readings - too good to be true!

Hello all - I have just taken correct meter readings and input them on the Npower site in my account.

Prior to doing this it was showing my account as £195.77 in credit - now as over £900 in credit!!!

Is this wrong or does it update correctly overnight

It cannot be right surely?

Last bill in July based on estimated readings.

All advice gratefully received.

I don't think that's right, it needs to update your meter reading. It has not taken in your usage from July to now or that's how it worked last time I did a update on my meter reading. It's a shame it does not instantly update.

Thanks for your reply - I know it cant be right so will check tomorrow and it may seem more realistic - if worth it I will ask for a refund of my own money back although last time I tried this they attempted to put me off re winter usage etc

The money is mine not theirs and it could be used to reduce my personal debt quicker.
  • you say july was estimated? was it an estimated bill previous to july also? if so you may have paid too much hence the credit? always give meter readings

November 2012 was the last time I gave actual readings and I would have been billed around that time - I can only wait until tomorrow hopefully to see the true credit as things stand now.

If I remember will keep you posted.

    Thanks
  • nov 12? lol, u could be in for a nice windfall, be sure to ask for refund, (altho u should be in credit for a fair bit after a year on estimates, ring to make sure 100% they should auto refund anyway if assuming your in credit by that much, but I would ring and ask for it

Checked tonight and now saying £318 in credit! Went into my account and that is after a bill has been produced so going to ask for it all back - waited 30 mins on the phone only to be told no further calls could be taken - left my number for a callback but will try in the day tomorrow.
  • That's the one thing that frustrates me with Npower that when you submit your readings online it does not update your account automatically.

Edf when I was renting a few months ago updated instantly when I updated my monthly readings. I think I ill be switching soon if Npower don't change to auto update.

Yes I know - that is why I am looking to move suppliers now to one where you can update readings as much as you want and have a true balance at any one time - I rang this morning and was told I am £175 in credit and not £318 (which is still showing on my account) - I was told I had to ring back next week after my Direct Debit due 21st clears before I can have the refund????

Thats it for me I am off elsewhere after next week.
  • If I input my meter readings into my online Eon account I get an immediate update.

It even agrees with my excel spread sheet.:T
Getting forgetful, if you think I've asked this before I probably have. :rotfl:
