Could my DECT be getting near retirement?

I have a Panny at least 11 years old, and am seeing problems internet-wise that possibly relate to phone calls in/out.

I'm just wondering how long Panny DECTs usually last without causing problems, especially ones that affect other equipment.

Opinions please!

Ours is at least that old and the only 'problem' has been the need to replace its batteries.

Is your router near your phone base station/handset? If so, move them further apart.
If the voice line is dropping when you go online, then the filter has failed.

As per macman...or it could be your filter breaking down -if you have a "spare" try changing filters before blaming the handset. Also try plugging in a wired handset in place of the DECT -If you still get problems it could be a line fault.

Filters were exchanged this morning, but two inward phone calls seems to have caused u/s SNR falls of between 2 and 4dB, as did one yesterday before I read your replies. I'll try another set of filters.

Base unit is downstairs and plugged in to master socket (NTE5) whilst computer and router are upstairs, the router connected to a hard wired BT extension. Voice's OK throughout.

May be inconvenient/impossible but next step would be to plug router/base unit into test socket (behind master socket),if you have one, to see whether the issue is with the extension cable.
Does the extension cable go outside the building? Any chance of water ingress?
I ask because I have had to disconnect my old BT extensions becuse one of them is damaged somewhere and moisture was tracking back to the connection box causing exacty the problem you are seeing.
EDIT -Have you tried a corded phone to eliminate the Pannys??

The cable runs up in the cavity and the extension socket is directly above the master. The socket is a BT one, so I am inclined to think it was installed professionally, ir must be 20 years ago. Still to try corded.

I am of course aware of the test socket routine and have it in a to-do list. The inconvenience though puts it off until other things have been tried.

There's definitely something wrong with your internet oldwiring - your last 2 posts were duplicated.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
