Looking to Rent electric or gas heating?

Hi this is my first post sorry if it is on the wrong board.
I am currently looking at renting a small 1 or 2 bed property,
I have noticed that many have electric heating instead of gas but the electric ones are cheaper to rent.
I have always been brought up thinking electric heating was very expensive is this true?
My question is usually there is about a £25 difference a month in rent the electric ones being cheaper. Now I plan to budget approx £60 a month combined for elec+gas. But if im only on electric then it would be £60 just for electric in my budget + £25 = £85 to break even with the extra rent a property with gas central heating would cost to rent.
Now my question is should I hold out for a place with gas, or rent a place with just electric. Also are my approx calculations correct or am I under estimating how much they will cost. This is the first time I will of lived away from home.
ALSO - The properties I looking to rent would be no older than 10 years old in Milton Keynes and there would be just my girlfriend and I living there and we both work in the day time.
Thanks for any input recieved, regards Adam

I would say for a 1/2 bed thats about right, we pay £63 pm for a 2 bed terraced thats for both gas and electric.
Electric heating does tend to cost more from experience but if you use it correctly, if doesn't have to cost the earth.
When we were in a 2 bed flat, all electric we used about £10 a week.0
