Due to the work I was doing not bringing in enough revenue, I was issued with a 'Performance Improvement Plan' by my manager, giving me X amount of weeks to see how things go. Despite not reaching these, he essentially informally offered me the job the other guy who left was doing. This was the week before I left I think.
Then the day I left, I get called into speak to him, who says that we are letting you go! The letter I got was just a confirmation of dates etc, outstanding pay, I don't think they need to go into more detail as I was still under probation, they get rid of people all the time in this industry.0 -
So not redundant? No you can be 'let go' any time up to two years before you could claim unfair dismissal but redundancy is the same at any time in employment which yours no don't seem to bejamesfisher1989 wrote: »Due to the work I was doing not bringing in enough revenue, I was issued with a 'Performance Improvement Plan' by my manager, giving me X amount of weeks to see how things go. Any normal person would get it all still in writing as I know I would and to cover them the company should have put it in writing too.jacques_chirac wrote: »Pretty common place nowadays. We’ve had to remove your signature. Well it's semantics isn't it, I suppose I associate redundancy with payoffs, consultation periods etc. As as I was still under probation I could be 'let go' with a week's notice.
As I have outlined above, we had had discussions about my work and how to move forward, and it was thought by everyone in the office and myself that I was to stay and take over from who was leaving. This isn't provable of course, but that's how thing's happened.0 -
What does your contract say about notice period (on both sides) during your probationary period ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Yes but its not for the reason you stated in the very first post. You said 'I was to lose my job, due to cutbacks in the number of permanent staff'jamesfisher1989 wrote: »Due to the work I was doing not bringing in enough revenue, I was issued with a 'Performance Improvement Plan' by my manager, giving me X amount of weeks to see how things go. Probation as I said is not worth the paper its written on as they can get rid up to 2 years in but a real redundancy would be just that no matter how long you have been there.
I would imagine now that you have been fired the contract standsWe’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
