One and a half weeks before the 6 months were up!

    Coincidence maybe?

For the sake of £2000 I would get legal advise re the contract you signed makes no mention of if they get rid of you in a legit redundancy situation that they can also take the £ back.

  • I have nothing in writing about me leaving, only a final letter with my remaining holiday pay etc. I don't think I would get anyone to back me up due to them still working there tbh.

Do you have anything in writing to confirm how you left, even if in email or text form? Is there anyone that will back up your version of events?
I would sure like to think the company would not make a redundancy by text or email!!

  • Technically I was still in a 9 month probationary period, so 'redundancy' is not really the correct term is it?

Well what is it? You got the sack? They took someone else on to replace you? You can get made redundant at any time

This is why I would not ignore them. You are not in the wrong, but ignoring them could make it look like you are avoiding the issue, and would make it more difficult to defend if they did take you to small claims. I would write back stating you did not leave, they chose to end your contract, and hence you do not believe that you owe anything.

I would be asking for a confirmation letter for say the JC to prove they made you redundant first.
