Car insurance: can I get refund for no claims?

Hi,
After a very drawn out battle with a third party, they have unsurprisingly now admitted liability just before the court hearing.
Unfortunately this dragged on for 2.5 years, and affected our no claims (7 years at the time down to 2), and as a result we had to get car insurance as if we only had 2 years no claims whilst it was all pending.
Now that the claim has been settled and we're back up to 8 years NCD, I was annoyed that had to pay much higher insurance premiums for this period of sorting it out.
My solicitor said to go to insurance and they will calculate what I should have paid to what I had and then refund the difference. However, I rang the insurance company who said they cannot give me any refund for such instances.
Can anybody help please, I'm not sure if there's anything I can do or not?
Thanks in advance!

If the insurance cannot give you a refund find out how much extra you paid and add it to the claim.
I would have expected them to put your insurance back to what it should have been will the 8 years no claims.
But did you inform them of the ongoing incident and the fact you maybe getting your no claims back?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Hi,
I mentioned it to the solicitors from the offset, they said would be very straight-forward just go back to insurance company once settled and they would recalculate what I would've paid as technically I would've been over insured.
I did inform the insurance company at the time however seem to have hot a brick wall
