Bathroom retailers

Looking for some feedback or suggestions for bathroom retailers / online resellers. I realise these threads come up fairly often but the forum search didn't throw up too many relevant answers for me.
So far I've looked at Homebase and Bathstore. I realise brick and mortar stores in general will be more than trade or online. However Homebase are currently offering an extra 20% off and buy now pay in 12 months, which is a great help.
Their product has a 10 year guarantee and is actually comparable to other quotes I've had. I couldn't find much feedback in terms of the quality of the product so I was interested in what people had to say. I'd be getting my own guy to fit it.
I'm interested in looking at a few online resellers to compare prices too. The only name that keeps getting mentioned is Victoria plumb and their feedback seems to be a real mixed bag.
Are there any other online resellers that I should be looking at?

Hi, we too are in the process of getting our bathroom done and are looking to purchase some stuff from Victoria Plumb - they have a sale at the moment 60% off. Our neighbour just had theirs done and used VP, they were very happy with their service.0 -
Very happy with The Bath Store. Quality products, cleverly designed and look fantastic. The minimalist look of many of their products really makes a bathroom look clean and spacious.
There is no substitute for actually seeing the products before purchase when it comes to bathroom suites.Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0 -
Thanks for the responses guys
Good to hear positive things for Bathstore. Will be getting a proper quote from them later.
Hasn't anyone had any experiences with Homebase's bathrooms?
I might look at Victoria plumb a bit more then. Also found Victorian Plumbing, Better Bathrooms and Plumbworld. What do you guys think of them? Did read some negativity about Better Bathrooms.0 -
Homebase bathrooms are better than their kitchens and are not bad. Most of the product is sourced from name companies so spares should not be a problem if needed. Unlike B&Q....
Less of a lottery than VP I would think. VP is cheap, but I would wager that if you ever need spare parts for anything, you would probably have a fine time trying to get them.
Would normally say Wickes as I work for them;) and have two bathrooms myself full of the product. But we are in the middle of a huge range change at the moment, so it is a bit chaotic right now with both displays and stock. Give it until January and it will all have settled down.0 -
Have tou tried Plumbing merchants e.g. PTS, HPS, Grahams as well as independents in your area etc? Buy brand name gear, spares will be readily available.
Seek the advice of your plumber as to suitable of your choices, experience with products etc.
Avoid the sheds.0 -
I've looked at a few local trade places and the price difference doesn't appear to be all that great to what I've been quoted at Homebase. In some cases it's been equal to, or more. Good point cddc, their products do appear to be branded rather than their own.
Yeah that's one gamble with some of the online outlets, the quality seems to be in question with VP/Better Bathrooms etc. as well as their customer service if any issues do arise. Usually there is a shining beacon in terms of online retailers who are 'doing it right' but that doesn't seem to entirely be the case for Bathrooms. Business opportunity anyone? Heh.0 -
+ 1 for wickes, i have fitted them and generally good quality. You will have the assurance that if something is wrong it will be dealt with, not fobbed off like online retailers.
Homebase like wise, but prefer wickes.0 -
City Plumbing all the way, if there's a branch with a showroom near you. I completely agree with the comments above re seeing stuff in the flesh. I faffed for ages looking at online shops and confusing myself, then sourced everything we needed in one hour-long trip to our local City Plumbing. And they were considerably cheaper than B&Q/Bathstore for an equivalent quality.
We went with Roca suites and taps and they've been fab (bathrooms are three years old now).
We were lucky in that our plumber was my brother and he came with us. He chatted them up and said he'd be doing more jobs in our area, so they gave him a trade discount. We got 20-60% off everything that we bought.0 -
Would agree that City Plumbing are a good option too. Not all branches have Bathroom showrooms though.....
In those that do, the showrooms are very good...and they sell good quality product.0 -
Ive ordered our bathrooms bits from liberty bathrooms, plumbworld and Victoria plumb in the past couple of weeks. Have been happy with all of them so far.0
