No access to current account with Abbey

On 29th May I informed the Abbey that I had recently changed my surname. On 8th June I revisited the Abbey as no card, cheque book or paying in book had arrived. I have still not received anything and I have also lost access to my online banking facility. I have made three separate visits to the bank and numerous phone calls. All of this has resulted in me having no access to my current account for the past 10 days. The only way I can take money out is by actually visiting the bank.
I have launched a formal compliant online and to the bank manager of the branch.
I would like to know if I have any ground for legal action also how much compensation should I be asking for.

Did you take written proof of your change of surname to the branch?
I would have thought that a change of surname would have no immediate effect on your visa/atm card as your old card should work for a few weeks until you get a new one. Is this not the case with Abbey?
Again you are the same person asbefore so why would a change of surname effect your internet login? Surely the account number will remain the same.
I think we need a gringo from Abbey Santander here to answer these questions.0 -
Thanks for your reply ejones999. I take all the proof needed and signed all the correct forms. Please could you tell me more about a gringo from Abbey Santander as I have not heard of this before.
Thanks HRH0 -

Sorry that was me trying to be funny. I meant that a staff member from Abbey would know more than I do about it.0
