EDF or nPower - exactly same deal, who to choose?

As above really! It's the 4 year winter lock in, no exit fee deal.

Only difference is EDF offers an online function.

I do not know what to do!

WWYD?

  • I went for npower, it was cheaper by around £50 overall than EDF 2017 deal, depends what area your in and if your on eco 7 etc, prices vary in certain parts of Uk both have no exits, so maybe go for the cheapest? you can do meter readings etc on both as far as I know and also check your bills etc
  • MSE Energy Club tells me that both suppliers will save/cost us exactly the same.

If it's genuinely the same price (not the £50 difference the previous poster mentioned), I would go with edf. Just see the amount of npower complaints on this forum if you need a reason!
  • Very good point *Blue*! I will go and double check everything before making any moves to be sure. I've never moved suppliers before and we have lived here almost ten years and it's making me nervous.

Absolutely - NPower billing process and customer service is a TOTAL mess!!!!
  • Is the £105 cash back worth the hassle based on all the complaints concerning nPower?

Only for the Standard Tariff. Of course, you could switch to the standard tariff THEN switch internally to a different tariff and claim the cashback, but that doesn't help those looking for a fixed deal because by the time the transfer is complete, the fixed deals will probably have changed to more expensive ones. :(

I'd go with EDF if you get the online function, it makes it very easy to put in readings and avoid estimates

Edf take credit card payments into your account online, if that appeals.
