Refused CC application even after appeal process

Hi

At the beginning of June i applied for a CC from Capital One. It was declined straight away  but I sent an appeal to manual review. I believe my credit history is not that bad as I constantly monitor my credit reports through checkmyfile - I haven't had any adverse etc, payments spot on.
Yestarday I received letter from Capital One saying that my appeal is still unsucsessful, they didn't give me an exact reason but mentioned that they had a look on people financially linked to me (who is my girlfriend). I have also seen my girlfriend's credit report where I couldn't find any adverse and payments are up to date, she's got couple credit accounts so it all looks allright. The only bit I can think of is that she's got ~£750 balance o/s on her credit card with limit of £850....

Do you reckon they might treat her as over-commited and decline my applications becaue of that??

Any help is much appreciated

thanks
mrtn

I don't really think your girlfriend come into this.
I reckon that you are not the type of customer they want at this present time (whatever that is!).
Don't get too downhearted - perhaps ask your main bank whether you qualify for a card - they should be able to tell you without making another search on whether you are likely to be successful.

Thanks for that, it appears to be the only reasonable explanation...unfortunately for me

Funny enough my girlfriend has just received letter today saying that she has been approved for their high APR CC (she just wants to build up her credit score)

comparing mine and her credit reports we look almost the same, we have the same number of credit accounts and payment history...

seems bit annoying as I wanted to do build my credit as well... will probably have to wait couple months and try again
