So I am trawling across my emails this afternoon and see "Congratulations" in the header from "Crisp White Sheets" as I open the email I see a nice big hotel bed, first thing that comes into my head is I have won a nice hotel break or something but no further down in the body of the email:-
Congratulations you are the first to know about our gorgeous new additions to the CrispWhiteFamily. Then I get a bunch of offers on hotel deals
Now I have been comping for years so I didn't allow myself to get excited, I don't get excited like I use too mainly because of people like this! Also last year Boots decided to email everyone on their whole entire database about winning a holiday and I thought I had won for like 2.5 hours till they sent a corrected email saying there had been a mistake...talk about feeling deflated!
Anyway I emailed them back and told them to think about how they word the header of their emails as it sounds like I have won a prize etc and its cruel
Surely I can't be the only person out there who gets annoyed by this?

I am with you on that one! Sooooo annoying!0

Very annoying. I don't look favourably on companies that use this method of advertising.0

What I don't get is how it can help them. I mean who is going to open an email like that, being misled into thinking they've won something, and then think well enough of the company to rush to buy something from them? TBH, the slightly shoddy marketing ploy wouldn't worry me greatly. It's more that I don't see how it works for them.

When you talk down to others it says more about you than them.0 -
I feel like its taking the mick (dangling the carrot) to be honest. that's what I feel anyway.Whether we win or lose, that we played at all was a winning decision.2011 wins £12,2922012 wins ...Thank you to all who post on here!!!! :A0

I got it yesterday and it infuriated me.
To be honest, even if I was planning to buy something from them, I would now refuse to give them any money on principle. Same goes for any of the myriad companies that send out "congratulations" LEMs.
Got one from Lactofree today - congratulations you've won a 50p off voucher :mad:Living with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0 -
I got that same email. I know how angry you must have felt. I think they do it to grab the readers attention because they know an email might just get deleted without being opened and read.0

I don't get annoyed at all.
They're a business. They want you to open the email. They want you to read it. They want you to remember them. They want you to discuss the business with others.
You've done all of the above.
Job done. 1-0 to them.
Businesses aren't out to do you a favour, they want to be noticed. In order for you to have received the email you must've signed up for something - either their newsletter or via a third party.0 -
I got the same yesterday - the bums lol0

When you replied maybe you should have included the word 'Congratulations' in the title of the email you sent to them.
It might help to emphasise the point!0 -
They are a business that is true but to get peoples backs up with shoddy marketing wont get them very far as it gives them a bad name from the word go in my opinion it certainly puts me off wanting to use them.ITV Winners Club Member #81& £3000 Bike
