I don't get annoyed at all.

They're a business. They want you to open the email. They want you to read it. They want you to remember them. They want you to discuss the business with others.

You've done all of the above.
    Job done. 1-0 to them.

Businesses aren't out to do you a favour, they want to be noticed. In order for you to have received the email you must've signed up for something - either their newsletter or via a third party.

BUT it's the most likely way to get me to unsubscribe from a company's emails!

On Facebook today Nivea are running a new daily competition, I got a voucher for two free products, but had to spend £15 on their estore to get them.

Now it's quite likely that if I'd got the freebies to try out I would then have bought the products once they ran out. But I'm not going to spend £15 first. It would be cheaper to buy the two products...

Maybe I'm just getting a grumpy old woman...:D

I will remember them. I will remember them as the business that sends out irritating emails. I think it will backfire on them.

Job not done. 1-0 to subscribers who may unsubscribe like me.

  • Sure do! I get spammy emails like this too, which are often similar to winning e-mails. Super annoying as I don't know whether to delete or open them!

Yes they wind me up too! There were 2 in my inbox this morning like this.

The first one was something like 'Congratulations, you now have access to AA rewards'! Needless to say this didn't fool me for long, but the word 'congratulations' had caught my eye.

The other sort that wind me up are the ones that could be WEMs but are just telling you that the winner has been selected. Today's example was headed 'BSOS Autumn Bundle competition winner!' which was just taking you to a page with the winners name on it.

    HAS NOW BEEN ANNOUNCED!

    I do find it annoying.

I e-mailed a company back once and told them that the subject had got my hopes up and i was disappointed.

The thread is on here somewhere.

Anyway, other people complained and they sent an apology email.

But for every one of you (who unsubscribes), many, many more people do nothing. Some might even read the email, some might then have some kind of interaction with the company ...
