Item bought from argos not as described

Options
Hi there,
I have recently purchased the Hallingford 3 door sliding wardrobe from argos for £127,(it has since gone back upto £259.99).
Even at that price the main reason I bought it, was because the description stated metal runners and metal handles, aprt from the sliding mechanism I am very happy with the wardrobe.
The wardrobe has not come with any metal runners or handles all the bits are plastic.
I have contacted Argos and they have confirmed that they no longer come with metal runners or handles but the description has not been updated, they have offered me the option to return but I will have to dismantle it, which is not really an option anymore, the other option I have is to have the £8.95 delivery charge refunded.
I was wondering should I be happy with £8.95 or should I ask for more or should I report them?
Any advice would be grreatly appreciated.
Regards

they have offered you the return option. Under DSR if you had ordered from their website or SOGA you would have to return it. Yes this means you will have to dismantle it, which is just a reverse of what you did to build it. if you think you may damage bits when you dismantle it due to glued parts, then contact Argos and explain to them. email terry.duddy@homeretailgroup.com or john.walden@argos.co.uk with your issue

The issue here seems to be that you've assembled it, and now want something doing.

Legally you can reject a product if it doesn't match the description, but not if you've 'accepted' it. In your case assembling the thing indicates you've accepted it, so you no longer have any legal right to reject it.

If the wardrobe doesn't come with metal runners any more, there's not a lot Argos can do. They can't magic some up out of thin air.

Given it's been assembled, Argos are doing more than they are legally obliged to in offering anything. You can push for a greater refund, but if they say no there's nothing else you can do.

That depends if the OP had checked the contents before they started to assemble it, but even then once they got to the point of the runners they could have stopped the assembly and contacted Argos.
