Try a new mouse? Cat's killed yours ;-)
I'm guessing it's a very old mouse - this was a common symptom of mice with dirty balls (open it up underneath, scrape the gunge off the rollers), but could also be if you have a battery powered/wireless mouse and the battery died0 -
What type of mouse do you have? Make sure it's clean as said in the reply above. I get cat hairs in mine on a regular basis
Or just buy a new mouse - that's probably the easiest solution. 0 -
Do you mean...
"My laptop mousepad isn't working properly, but if I plug in an external one, it sometimes works?"
If so, what is the make and model of your computer, what operating system are you running, etc?1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
I think that the OP cannot control, possibly even see, the cursor on their screen unless they have an external mouse connected?0

Hmmm!!! I interpret this:
I can only use my mouse with an external mouse plugged in. this has happened before but after a long time of swiping screen it turns up, but not this time. any advice
I can only use my mouse (pointer) with an external mouse plugged in.....because the trackpad is turned off. this has happened before but after a long time of swiping screen (the trackpad) it turns up......because I managed to tapped hard enough on the trackpad's on/off dimpled button, but not this time. any advice0 -
OP, got to your trackpad settings and make sure it is switched on.....if the above is a correct diagnosis
Also look for a small indent (dimple) in the trackpad's top-left corner.....you have to press on it to switch off/on the trackpad.
If my diagnosis is wrong, check whether you have some sort of "Hide the cursor while typing until I press CTRL" setting switched on.0 -
It might also be worth checking that the latest mouse / mousepad drivers are installed.... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0

'swiping screen'?
Tablet? Touch enabled laptop? Brand? Model? Any basic information at all?0 -
I have a 3 legged cat who is a very good hunter. She would soon locate it for you.0
