Cancelling CPA with HSBC

Hi All

I need to cancel a CPA payment due out on 23rd October. Has anyone any experience of doing this with HSBC. Do they cancel or am I best just reporting my debit card as lost or stolen. Am i best doing it over phone, writing or at branch.

Thanks for your help

Phone them up and cancel it over the phone, then send a letter to follow up.

Don't take no as an answer.

They might not be able to stop it but they will reverse the charge afterwards if you phone them.

Legally they have no choice but to accept your instruction to cancel the CPA and any payments that are taken after you advise them of the cancellation have to be refunded.

Don't bother cancelling your card, it's a waste of time - the payment is already authorised and will just be transferred to your new card.

    Hi
Thanks for your help, I did cancel the CPA with HSBC and the company taking the payment but the payment still went through, however HSBC where great the refunded it as soon as I contacted them. Yesterday the company emailed me saying they are sorry they took the payment and that they have refunded the payment. So I have ended up in profit. Who do I need to refund now, the bank or the company?

HSBC will take for the money back at some point in the future. Make sure you don't spend it and just keep it to one side until they collect it.

Or you can write to them pointing out you have been refunded and that you need to give the refund back, and thanking them for being prompt in taking action for you.
