washing Machine keeps blowing a fuse towards end of wash cycle

Our washing machine which is just over 2 years old (1 year warranty) has started to blow a fuse in the plug in the middle/towards the end of the wash cycle. If put on a rinse only or spin programme it works fine. I keep replacing the fuse and most but not every time the same fault occurs. What is the likely problem and is it easy to rectify myself. The initial cost of calling an engineer out is very high and that is before the cost of replacing the part. if we do not what part is faulty then he may have to go away and get the part and then they will be another charge for a further visit. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

I'd eliminate the wiring to the socket for the washing machine itself first. Have you tried plugging it into another socket and running a wash?
Also, double-check the plug wiring and make sure it the wires are secure properly with no strands touching any other pins.
Also check the mains cable from the plug to the entry into the washing machine. Has it been squashed/damaged/trapped/cut by being run over by the machine?
Obviously carry out those check with all of the power to the socket turned off (at the fuse box).
Anything over and above that will require a professional and will cost money i'm afraid.
One thing I bought many years ago was an electrical socket tester which has a pattern of three lights that light up in different patterns depending on what the issue is. It cost under a tenner and I use it annually to check the electrical health of every socket in the house. It takes seconds and I identified an earthing issue to the sockets in the kitchen a couple of years ago with it. That's unlikely to help you directly with your washing machine issue but it's just something useful to have at home to eliminate the electrical socket as the cause of your issues.
Your issue does sound like a problem with the washing machine itself but you can eliminate some of the other possible causes for free yourself.Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0
