The kindle fire HD has a HDMI output on it, you would just need to buy the correct cable.0

Search on ebay for something with an Rk3066 chipset. There are quite a few cheap options and most of them have HDMI output.
Something like this:-
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/7-PIPO-S1-RK3066-Dual-Core-1-6GHz-Android-4-1-1GB-Jelly-Bean-Tablet-PC-8GB-/300980037825?pt=UK_iPad_Tablets_eReaders&hash=item4613cee8c1
The Pipo-S1 get pretty good reviews0 -
Tesco Hudl.. 99% as good as a Nexus for £119

Just DONT buy their micro to normal HDMI lead from Accessories, £15 is pure robbery. Get any one off Ebay for a couple of quid, or CPC have free delivery on any online order and sell plenty.European for 3 weeks in August, the rest of the year only British and proud.0 -

This, it's an excellent tablet for the money. Had mine for 2 weeks and it's all but replaced my laptop.
Streaming via hdmi works great, it's fast and nippy, runs pretty much stock android, bar a few little mods by tesco.
Great build quality, decent specs.
Glad I chose it over the nexus 7, hdmi and the sd slot swung it for me0 -
I was wondering if I place the tablet under the tv and connect hdmi to hdmi so that I can use the big screen tv will I be able to use a wireless mouse and keyboard from the sofa?
The idea is so that I can use the big screen tv as a monitor and if I can get a tablet at a reasonable price than connect my tethering to the tv great but I don't wish to run long cables from where I am sitting on the sofa to the tv....Thank you.0 -

You should be able to, if the tablet supports USB OTG, the tesco hudl does, but then it's a minefield as to which mice and keyboards work, whether they are recognised by the device, some work with certain phones and tablets others don't.0 -
Is the Hudl not as locked down as much as the amazon fire.0

It's a completely different beast, it runs a pretty much stock version of Android 4.2.2, tesco has only added a little T icon in the bottom right corner that opens a few tesco apps, and you have the preinstalled tesco apps. Other than that, it's the same software as if you bought a nexus 70 -
Just a consideration for you.
Although it may sound great blowing up the screen to your tv, remember a touchscreen tablet requires you to look at the tablets display to interact with it.
It's great to send movies to a big screen, but for normal use which requires a lot of input (I.e. typing in searches web or gaming) I wouldn't suggest it as you may spend the majority of the time looking at the screens keypad/controls.
Anyway, to achieve what your describing, I myself use an Apple iPad in conjunction with an Apple TV. You can mirror the screen or 'AirPlay' music or movies to a big screen. However, there are obviously cheaper ways to achieve what your after as pointed out by the other members.0
