Not much help, but I can't imagine any chain with any sense would include London hotels in a sale on the weekend of the marathon .....
Have you looked at Travelodges ? They have some quite keen prices for the Friday night (11th) but all are well over £100 for the Saturday. Two adults and two children could fit into one of their family roooms , but I'm not sure how many of their central London hotels have those. The only one I'm sure of is Covent Garden, whcih is about the most expense one showing, and £170 for the Saturday0 -

Unfortnuately they've already had a 'sale' for that period (the prices shown in red are sale prices) and even then they don't do the great reductions they used to, especially on a Saturday night ... (I used to get London rooms for £9 a night in the old days of their sales, now it's good going to get anything under £40 in Central London).0 -

I know it is a good way off until the London marathon, but often people book hotels a year in advance for that weekend i.e. the runners and their family, friends plus the officials. If you find anything I would book it ASAP as it will only go up in price and avaialbility will be very limited nearer the time.0

Not sure if they have family rooms but Tune hotels are great value for London0

Handy tip for saving money on hotels in London. Book on the day! Been looking at hotels for a few weeks in London but didn't book one and left it a bit late (I travelled up today). Last week a nearby Premier Inn was about £90, Travelodge more. Had a look at comparison sites this morning and found a hotel in Turnham Green near the friend I was visiting for £60 (was £110 last time I looked). Felt I did well

It might have worked in your particular case, but as a general rule of thumb I don't think it's usually a money saver. Certainly Travelodge saver prices have to be booked at least 21 days in advance and their sales are often months in advance - by the time you looked last week, it would almost certainly have been the top 'flexible' rate that they wwere quoting.0
