Returning goods to Debenhams.

Options
Hi all first time poster, long time reader.

I recently bought a jacket from Debenhams, which Is advertised as being made from a material which the manufacturer (Dare2b) claims is waterproof. Tried the jacket on and was a good fit (2 weeks ago) so removed the labelling and packaging and recycled it trusting Debenhams to only sell products from manufacturers they trust.

The problem I now have is that on wearing the jacket for the first time in the rain I got soaked! Debenhams returns policy states they will only accept returned goods in a resalable state with labels...

Hoping someone here can advise me what my rights are, the jacket was bought online, and paid for with my visa credit card.

Fingers crossed, Dave.

That condition that "they will only accept returned goods in a resalable state with labels" only applies to change of mind type of situations.

As the product is clearly faulty, you will have no problem returning the thing particularly if you still have a proof of purchase.

Have you anything which shows the jacket should be waterproof?
Maybe look on their website... just in case you have to argue the point.

I have checked Debenhams website and there is talk of water repellant material with waterproof zips (why a non waterproof jacket would have waterproof zips I don't know), on dare2b's website it clearly says waterproof. In all honesty I was out for less then 1 hour in light rain and got wet - so not sure if that even qualifies as repellant!

Btw thanks for the reply, I have sent an email to debenhams customer services to and will update this post when I get an answer.

    Regards.
