I've not actually shipped books this way, but I don't see why not. I would make sure that the book was firmly enclosed in the card wrapper - if necessary by adding bubble wrap or cardboard wedges inside. And you can add additional protection to the spine and the open edges of the book by using more layers of card on the bits that won't affect the overall thickness of the parcel.Do you find that cereal box card is OK for hardback books?
You could even wrap the edges of the book in a loop of corrugated card before wrapping the whole thing in cereal box card.
It makes a big difference on cheap items how much the postage is. No matter how much you protest that £2.60 is the true cost, people still resent it.Sounds like a good idea. I think I will give it a go - if it makes a difference between large letter and small parcel, why not? I have a few hardback books which are just under 2.5cm and have been wondering how to avoid posting as small parcel!0
