Not quite sure what relevance the landlord's finances are to you- especially as a lodger rather than a tenant.
You pay him rent; he gives you a room.
Whether he uses the cash you pay him for shopping, bills, paying off debt, gambling or keeping his dear old mum in a care home is none of your business.0 -
I would imagine she is thinking that renting a room would leave her liable to losing her stuff if bailiffs visit to remove belongings because of bad debts. Or maybe she didn't like the LL's hair or something. Couldn't say exactly as the post wasn't overly specific.
But like you, GM, I did wonder why on earth the OP bothered to make this post. She didn't like the landlord etc.., she decided not to pursue the room. Sorted. No biggie.0 -
yes it's the bailiff type thing that concerned me but I had a feeling something was up with the door number thing. I have no idea why they told me this info as why would I need to know?
I had no idea it was a LIL before arriving though as I woulda never bothered.0 -
However the OP mentions about everyone being paid and they're past 6 years which would seem to be a reference about credit history becoming clear, which makes no sense with reference to being a lodger? Unless they believe having the same address as the landlord will affect their credit rating adversely?Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0

I'm afraid I don't understand the reference to the 'door number'?0

presumably the landlord took his door number off his front door at some point in the past to cleverly evade any bailiffs who can't figure out where property is when you take it's door number off0

lol
Inspite of what seems to be a bailiff's practice of adding more than they should in fees to a debt.., I haven't yet heard of one that couldn't count.0 -
I have taken the house number off my front door. It's cause I've just painted it!
And internal doors need not be numbered - it's helpful to have a contract which identifies the specific room, but this is rare in a room rental.
Any anyhow, if he's in debt, credit to him for renting a room to try and repair the situation rather than avoiding or denying itSo many glitches, so little time...0
