Magnetic tape for secondary glazing

Hi all

Tried to construct a DIY secondary glazing project for a draughty old sash bathroom window by getting a sheet of 3mm clear acrylic and putting it on the inside of the window frame. The idea was to run this sticky magnetic tape around the edge of the clear acrylic http://www.maplin.co.uk/3-multi-purpose-magnetic-tape-224248 and then around the painted wooden window surround so that it would be held in place and keep out most draughts but could be detached whenever the window needs opening. It's roughly 1.5M x 1M.

Problem - the magnetic force of the magnetic tape isn't strong enough to hold the acrylic sheet in place. So - does anyone know of a good make of this sort of tape that has a stronger magnetism?

It would also be good if there was such a thing out there as white magnetic tape as this would be blend better with the painted wooden window surround, but that's not a deal-breaker.

Any ideas gratefully received.

Thanks

Mark

Is the problem that the acrylic sheet slides downwards? If so is there no way of making a discreet bracket/holder at the bottom to take the weight?

    Both - thanks for replies

Stooby - tried the bracket idea, but the problem is that even with that taking the vertical weight the horizontal magnetic gripping force of the tape still isn't enough to hold it flush against the window frame :-(

!!!!!! - hmm. Thought about that one, but wouldn't that grip TOO hard and rip the adhesive backing off the window frame / acrylic sheet every time I tried to take it down?

As above a couple of patches of velcro with the magnet also should hold strong.

Can you fix a couple of proper magnets anywhere? I have some from old hard drivers and they are super strong.
