Hi I'm new
I brought my daughter a android tablet from Argos in July for her bday which is today I have not set it up or turned it on until today, she was delighted with her present unfortunately I put it on charge and the charger has broken inside the tablet she is utterly devastated sobbing her heart out bless her. I am unsure if I can return it to Argos as I got it in july. I really need some advice from anyone please.

Thanks
Bexy

    Hi

I am sorry to hear about your daughters' present having the charger breaking off inside the tablet.I bought from Argos earlier this year a tablet from them and within a week it would not charge so I returned it and got a replacement. The replacement lasted two weeks and I then had the same thing happen again. I returned that one and was able to get a full refund at that time, I know your situation is not the same but two points I would say, first...when I bought the first one I was informed that the item was not part of the "returns policy" from Argos but that if it was damaged I could return it. Second {and I do not know if you can do this} but if part of the pin from the charger is visible perhaps with a pair of needle point pliers or tweezers you can pull the broken bit out, on Amazon you can buy replacement chargers for around £10. I would also say from the problem I had if it was a CnM tablet it was the one that gave me the major problems with it stopping charging very soon after I got it but it was pointed out to me by a very kind poster on here what the problem was and now with the new make I got from else where {to date} has caused me no problems at all.

How did the charger break off? If it was accidental damage (for example someone tripped over the wire while it was charging and it snapped) then you aren't going to have a right to return it. If it snapped off under normal usage then they should offer you a remedy under the Sale of Goods Act.

Since it is less than 6 months since you bought it then it will be up to Argos to prove that the fault is not inherent if they want to refuse to do anything.

Following on from what Mike says (and assuming accidental damage) with luck you will be able to get the end out and just replace the charger.

One word of advice if you are going to buy items well ahead of birthdays etc please at least give them the once over to ensure they are present and correct and work.

I think the problem with some is that they dont realise the micro USB charger
    only goes in one way.

That is the problem with them though. You can get them in the other way. I must say I'm a not a huge fan of these micro USB thingys, to such an extent that I have banned the rest of the family from charging the Nexus. It is only 4-5 months old and on a couple of occasions I have thought it was knackered but (touch wood) it is still working BUT you do have to take care.
