Hi
I have storage heaters NLSH18AN (2.55kw) in my house and I am trying to work out the most efficiant way of using them
I understand that there are input settings but if I use input 1 does this still use 2.55kw an hour or is it 1/6th of 2.55kw (being as there are 6 settings) or am I missing the whole point?
I live on my own so don't need full heat so trying to get the most efficiant setting possible.

In mild conditions start with a low setting.
And when the weather gets colder turn it up.
The thermostat will regulate it on and off0 -
You have an automatic not the manual version. A storage heater stores cheap rate heat, how much cheap it stores depends on where you set your input setting. The more cheap heat stored, the more is released. Maximum setting may not be needed at the moment but will be needed by winter, for example an input setting of :
- six stores a total of 23.8kWh [ish] or 9.3 hours @ 2.55kW output
- three stores a total of 11.9kWh [ish] or 4.6 hours @ 2.55kW output
- one stores a total of 1.9kWh [ish] or 0.7 hours @ 2.55kW output
How much heat it puts out depends on how open the damper URL="http://www.storageheaters.com/images/how%20storage%20heaters%20work.jpg"]output[/URL is, a wide open damper would give 2.55kW of mixed radiated & convected heat, similarly a closed damper would output much less heat almost all of which would be the much better radiated type rather than convected heat.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
