Further borrowing on new house refused - anyone successful at an appeal?

When I was working at a mortgage lender, cases where there had been a mistake on the account, and documentary evidence could be supplied to confirm the mistake, had a good chance of a successful appeal, if there were no other negative points.
In this case, a think an appeal would be worthwhileEarly retired - 18th December 2014

This is better than one of the usual "good reasons".It was a knock on effect from her bank taking out £2895 rather than £28.95 for a credit card payment.
Her bank have already admitted liability for this
As has been said, if you can evidence this, even NatWest would be wrong to decline on that alone.I am a mortgage broker. so we have been told that they will not reverse their decision so we have to appeal. of course this has to be done in writing! has anyone tried appealing this type of decisions.....any tips? should we be saying we would have no choice but to go to the ombudsman if we dont get a satisfactory outcome? copy in the chief exec? try to cause a stir?
any tips would be gratefully received!0 -

Just make a very plain statement that you were turned down for exceeding the overdraft limit - and that had they not made the mistake, the overdraft limit would not have been exceeded. The shorter the letter, the better
(BTW double check your credit records to ensure that this apparent breach has not been recorded there - but don't complicate you letter at this stage by waiting to check that out or mentioning it)You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -

Hi All,
just wanted to keep you updated and our mortgage has now been approved! took 2 weeks but after an appeal we are now just waiting for a valuation to be done. We did receive a letter back from RBS after i wrote to the chief exec to apologise and they requested the file to be looked at again.
thanks again for all the advice.
