When I try to open iTunes I get the following message:
iTunes.exe has been set to compatibility mode for an older version of Windows. For best results turn off compatibility mode for I Tunes before you open it.
Could some one advise me how to 'tune off compatibility mode for iTunes'?
Thanks

It would have helped if you'd said which version of Windows you're running, but if it's Win 7 .....
Right Click on the desktop iTunes icon ... from the drop-down menu select Properties ... click on the Compatibility tab and uncheck the compatibility tick-box and Save....
