I bought an M&S count on us chilled chilli con carne, use by 22/08/13, didn't eat it so whacked it in the freezer. It says on the pack to freeze before use by date then use within one month. I knew it was around a month since I'd frozen it so got it out today and realised it's been over a month, and should have been used by 22nd September. Is it safe to eat still? Thanks.

If it was in a reasonable freezer I would eat it even after a few years.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

It'll be absolutely fine, enjoy it!
The worse thing that can happen in freezers is that the quality can be impaired if it's been there too long (not that it'll be unsafe to eat). And that certainly won't happen since August, it'll take years or very poor packaging that can allow freezer 'burn'.
I'm with the mutt on this one.;)0 -
Goodness yes I hope so. I've eaten things older than my nephew and niece from the freezerI believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Do it all the time
Best bit of beef I ever cooked was one that had slipped down to the bottom of the chest freezer for a couple of years. Cooked it slowly and it was tender, moist & full of flavourWorse things will have happened in the world today..."The only thing that really matters, it to love and to be loved."0 -

Ditto.
Made a homemade lamb rogan josh made with diced lamb which I found in the freezer with a YS with a use by date of 3rd Oct. 3rd Oct 2012 as I only bought lamb with a YS back in May this year.0 -
I've previously filled a freezer with ready meals on offer & eaten them at least 7+months after the best before / use-by date. I didn't die. Still tasty.0

I had no idea frozen food had a use by date! :rotfl:
As I am still Alice, I'd say, eat it!0 -
Through personal experience, I'd be cautious with pork and pork pate, but everything else is fine.Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

If in doubt, chuck it out......but often forget my my own advice and give it a go!!!!! Never really had a problem - except when I've not labelled a bag and don't know what's in it!!! When that's happen I'm not in it mood for eating it rather than any heath reason!!:j I feel I am diagonally parked in a parallel universe :j0
