Just had my aunt on the phone, her printer refuses to print any black, just colour. She's changed the cartridge, reseated it, reinstalled the software but no black. Got her to check she didn't reinstall the old empty cartridge and throw the new one away, as one numpty I know did (- me!:o ), but all seems ok.
Very puzzled. Also happened to one of her friends too, different printer tho. Could this be a virus?
Thanks in advance. Too busy today to spend hours on dial-up trawling the net. Did a quick search but couldn't find anything. Hoping someone with more technical nouse will know the answer!

Money can't buy you happiness, but it does bring you a more pleasant form of misery.

Make sure she has removed the sticky coveron the print head! if she has,try removing the cartridge and take a piece of kitchen towel .Dampen and wipe the cartridge in one direction across the bottom where ink comes out.She should get some ink coming out onto the towel. If no ink is coming out at all, I think the cartridge must be defective. If she gets ink on the towel, put it back in and use the clean cycle on the lexmark printer program.try just printing a black square or some text with her picture prog or word processor.0
