                    Hey guys.
I signed up for insurance at £750 quid two weeks back on my vehicle. It was on confused.com. I signed up online and had the mail sent to my gfs house where I am staying for a week whilst my place is cleared of damage from flooding.
My old insurance company has taken so long to send my certificate of no claims that they have now cancelled my insurance.
I re-did a quote on confused and now the insurance is £1050. On top of that if I have to say that my insurance was cancelled at one point, it shoots up to £1700!
How is it that two weeks has cost me £1000. What can I do?
The insurance company one call has also only refunded me £350 and charged me £400! Is that legal? I am thinking of calling OFT and taking them to a money claim. It doesnt say they will only refund me 50% of my premium if they cancel my insurance. Surely cancellation means it wasn;t valid and even still I paid upfront and pro-rata, that doesnt equate to £400 since I did not use over 6 months worth.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards

The renewal schedule should have had the proof of NCD written on it ?
Did you lose this ?Be happy...;)0 -
Ask them to itemise the cancellation charges and take it from there if they don't match up to the policy conditions over cancellation.
They will have charged your cover based on nil ncd, rather than any you claimed to have in your application.
Try and get the policy reinstated as you have discovered, a cancelled policy on your record causes your premium to rise, most online insurers refuse to quote, and it has to be declared for evermore.0 -
When you did the latest quote did you tick the box that you have had a policy cancelled? Some insurers wont even quote if you tick that box.
And its not something you can forget to mention either. It could make insurance difficult to get for many years. Or more costly.
As above no renewal letter from the old insurance? No overlap on the policy date is there?
Phone them and grovel on your knees if needed. Pay what they ask then stick a complaint in. But you need them to remove that cancellation.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
