Bubble Wrap on windows ?

My double glazed windows are cold to the touch.. but things seem a lot warmer now that I have put bubble wrap over them (not sure if it will last but its north facing and nobody can see)

Just wondering if anyone else has tried this, as it seems such a cheap way to keep the heat in.

If you put it on the inside of the window it should last O K.

Static air is a good insulator. (That is what double glazing is basically.)
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

Shame, that it has to go to that extreme by having to resort to diy techniques.. what with todays technology !!

Thanks for the comments and link.

Wondered if anyone has heard of,or tried, Low -E film (low emissivity film) on their windows and if it has worked. I think that some insulatiive double glazing units have Low -E glass... but not sure whether the film is just as good, I guess it would look better than bubble wrap.

I was thinking of hanging an old duvet on my bedroom window in the winter?

I put it on the single glazed frosted windows in our bathroom last year.

It really works. We have double glazing now which works better, but bubble wrap is a perfect low cost solution.

In fact my house has some single glazed windows, which are patterned glass so bubble wrap might be a good winter solution.

Those lightweight fleecy blankets make for good insulation - we've used one on a door. They come in such a good range of colours that you can get something that suits your decor so, even if it's not hidden behind a curtain, it looks okay.
