Deposit Paid but still no goods

Options
In March this year I paid £800 deposit by credit card for a dress for my daughters wedding, the receipt for the deposit states the dress was required August/September. In September I had still not heard from them so I called them and they said the dress had been chased up, I still heard nothing by October and called them again and they said it was on its way but could not give me a delivery date. I called the credit card company stating I wanted my money back but the department I needed to speak to was busy and they promised me a call back. That was 10 days ago and I have heard nothing more from either the dress shop nor the credit card company. Can I now cancel the order because they have not fulfilled the order and insist on my money back? Even if the dress turns up next week.

Do you have anything detailing the agreed timeline/delivery expectation?

Did you pay the retailer direct or did the payment go via paypal? Was the dress for yourself or was it your daughters wedding dress? These 2 questions may make a difference to whether you can hold the card company jointly liable or not under section 75 of the consumer credit act.
