return item who pays?

  • If you had reported the fault after the six months they claim it takes to see results then I think it could have been argued that you had not accepted it so could have rejected it for a full refund.

    After 14 months you will be deemed to have accepted it, so you can't reject for a full refund. They still have to fix, replace or refund if it's inherently faulty, but they can require you to prove it's faulty.

    I don't want a refund I want an item that works.

    I have emailed Ideal World and quoted the SOGA and they are ignoring this and saying send it back to the manufacturers, who as said previously are willing to have it back to check. They won't cover postage both ways only the return to me. It going to cost about £11 to post to them.

    The first few months I used a different setting and as that was not working I increased the setting so felt I had to give it the six months. Salon Essentials say that I have been using it correctly and there are no circumstances in which it shouldn't work.

    Liverbirdie, I think it is time you wrote a letter... a real letter, not email.

    Send it to Ideal World and head it letter before action.

    You need to state the problem, what you want to happen, when you want it to happen and what will happen if they do not do that.

    Send it recorded delivery.

    £4.89 if it weighs less than 2kg.

    Used this service 4 times in the last three days, all 4 items were delivered next day - exceptionally good value... (Royal Mail are a joke at £10!)

    I have an update, although not yet sorted I feel I am getting somewhere at last.

    I got in touch with Ideal World and told them that as the retailer they were responsible under the sale of goods act, and mentioned that my statutory rights were with them not the manufacturer.

    I told them that the manufacturer are willing to check the item and return or replace the item.

    Ideal World asked me return the unit and sent me a collectplus label. Which I duly did.

    However nothing is easy with Ideal World, I had a letter saying they had received the goods back, but the item was incomplete, could I please send the DVD back. They mentioned sending the unit back to me, so I rang the customer service and pointed out if they send it back to me and I send the DVD back to them, it would still be incomplete.

    So she sent me another collectplus label, and hopefully they will hold on to the unit until the DVD gets there, then they can send the whole lot off to Salon Essentials, job done.
