pc will not connect to firefox or update antivirus

Ever since I let a few friends on my computer during a party my computer will not connect to firefox.

Also AVG will not download any upates.

This has been happening for quite a while now and i'm a bit worried

any help will be much appreciated

The simple thing is to re-install Firefox and AVG. This way you will get rid of any problem you have and start a fresh.

Your firewall is not blocking access to internet?

Try to do a SystemRestore to a time when the internet was working fine.
if that doesnt work, use the program on this site: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html

have you tried clearing your cache?

i had a laptop with exactly the same problem, i cleared the cache and the internet came back

maybe flush the dns resolver cache

start, run, type cmd hit enter then type ipconfig /flushdns then hit enter
