First time.
With being a family of four we normally book a "family room" and up until our last holiday we have had what seemed to be a larger room. However on our last holiday the room was of standard size with a extra bed in. When queried i was informed from the operators T&Cs that "a family room may not be any larger than a standard room".
So why was i charged?
I would have been in the same room had i of booked a twin 4 (2 adults/2children under 12) and not paid the extra £10 per person per night (£560)
Please help me understand.

(Sorry not a travel agent but just my opinion)If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -
You had an extra bed, hence the extra charge!
Did you have bed and breakfast? In that case, you also paid for an extra meal.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Dmg.. it was £560 cheaper to have a a normal room that sleeps 4 and fed 4
so he was charged £560 for nothingIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -

In that case I agree, it doesn't make sense. The OP asked why the difference in price between a Twin and a Family Room, in which case I could understand the difference.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Is there anything i could do to attempt a refund?0

Anyone have any comprehension that the hotel sets the prices in a contract, and the tour operator simply marks that up?
These prices reflect the conditions the hotel sets in the hotel contract with the Tour Operator. It's not like they are making £560 for nothing - they'll be paying £500 of that to the hotel.....
It might not make sense, but at least find the right person to blame. Cheap shots and all.
What IS wrong is the organisation you have probably booked with is so bog makes it impossible for the individual you booked with to query something that is obviously absurd.0 -
I have looked at the T&C's and under the "single occupancy" you find "the cost of a room is set by the hotel regardless of its occupancy as all fixtures, fittings are the same and running costs remain the same". Obviously this would mean they can charge additional for under occupancy. . . . .
So as i read it the operator win under both (singles and families) of the T&C's they set themselves.0 -
