Consumer Rights act- washing machine under 3 years old

We have a Zanussi washine machine which we purchased in late December 2010. We now have a problem with it as the fuse in the plug keeps blowing. We have phoned Zanussi but they want an exhorbitant sum to send out an engineer and are not interested in helping telling us we should have taken out an extended warranty. A friend mentioned to me that under the Consumer Rights act there was a clause that covered failures of white goods etc under 3 years old. Has someone any knowledge of this issue and could point us in the right direction. We really feel annoyed with Zanussi and would have expected the wahing maching to last a lot longer 2 years 10 month plus is no time at all.

Basically...You need to deal with the retailer, as its over 6 months old you will need an engineers report to get a free repair, the cost of the report should be refunded to you by the retailer.0 -
Ask your friend to point out the clause to you because I can not recall seeing it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
