Sounds like they were wanting to go up from earth contact points up the inside wall, thru the wall, over to EUs premises somehow, thru the wall and down thru trunking again.
I'm beginning to think that this repair has been carried out gratis by an energy supplier and OP simply wants some cash to repair what is his responsibility, his wall and his garden within the boundry of his property
The work beyond the wall..the street,pavement etc i wont have to pay for but the work in the garden is chargable to me as its a bought property0 -
them digging up the garden to relay a cable isn't really "extra" work it's part of the job, not sure why they're charging you for that tbh.
I'd ask what they are charging and ask for a breakdown tbh0 -
I'm pretty sure gas, electricity & water companies have a statutory right of entry to do essential works to avoid danger but this only applies if entry is the *only* way to do it and not just because it is the easy solution.
More generally, access & repair of shared services like this should be covered in your deeds but is often an expensive pain so having your own supply is the best solution0 -

I'm sorry but I'd have also refused you doing the work as described. We avoid trunking like the plague. If your workmen had offered to lift the floor to lay the cable and put everything back cosmetically the way it was before I would have considered it but it sounds like that wasn't what you were offering.0

I can understand the nightmare you have been having so perhaps it explains why you sound a bit selfish. I'm sure once things have settled you will see it a bit more from your neighbour's point of view. You have said that they have been fine up till now. Don't ruin it- as it can cause even more stress way beyond this episode.
One thing to think about is your insurance company- if they let you live in an unsafe house, that is a bit worrying.weight loss target 23lbs/49lb0 -

I'd be very suprised if they included having to assist with repairs for each others gardens and walls
from the sound of it the workmen have carried out the works in the OP's garden and by removing section of OP's walls?0
