Advice ppi on santander mortgage please

Hi all , am new to this ppi and thought have had a few mortgages and credit cards over the years and have never knowingly taken out ppi . Had mortgage with santander and phoned them to see if i had it and they said that i didnt but thats not to see that i did. I received a letter today thanking me for contacting them about concerns relating to my mortgage ppi and that one of the team will be investigating it further and once completed will be in touch . Now what i would like to know if anyone can help is that is this just a standard letter because i have phoned or did i actually have ppi , thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

You would see it if you did. Monthly direct debit from your bank account.Now what i would like to know if anyone can help is that is this just a standard letter because i have phoned or did i actually have ppi
