Window Dressing My Living Room Window

Hi can anybody please advise. At the moment I have a pair of gold coloured curtains and a full size net in my living room. My house does not have a front garden, therefore my window looks on to the footpath and people sometimes look in. I would like a change, especially from the nets as my husband and I are both smokers (not a lot) and the nets do get grubby. I have thought about getting voile curtains, however, I do like the privacy that the nets afford. I do not want blinds. Can anybody please advise me what to do in respect of making the window nice but still having some privacy.

I have had a voile roman blind made to go with ordinary curtains - make a change, bit more modern and can be drawn up to let extra light in. You can get them in all colours and patterned too if you are worried about smoke discolouration. You can also get frosted transfers to stick on the glass, or frosted spray but have never used them myself!0
