Is there any help I could get?

Options
I applied for a foundation degree, and assuming it goes well will do the degree top it. It is by distance in Wales, I live in England. I applied for a student loan and started the course, but have been rejected as I have a level 5 diploma. It never crossed my mind it would be a problem as I never received a loan before. Is there any other financial help I may be eligible for?

if you go to the turn to us website they may be able to point you in the direction of grants etc available to you... also look on the students sections on this website as there are lot of other links available to have a look at for people of different ages, and doing different qualifications that may be able to help.

I think it was turned down due to the equivalent qualifications clause in the funding.

    Good luck. xx

  • It could be because it's a distance learning course. I'm not sure tbh, but I would recommend actually speaking to student finance for the authority concerned (presumably it's the one you live in), as I find them very helpful indeed. Good luck with your foundation degree - I'm in year two, and it's quite possibly the best decision I've made in a long time. Although after 7 hours lectures and a 6 hour work day today, I'm having trouble switching off the grey matter :)

It's nothing to do with distance learning, the OP already has a qualification above the level which s/he wants to study, that's why there's no funding available.
