Halifax reward and Direct Debits...

I'm just wondering if anyone can help me with a quick question, I've contemplated switching to Halifax for some time, the £100 switching bonus and free £5 seems pretty good to me....
The last time I looked into it I didn't bother because the lack of direct debits meant I wouldn't benefit from the free £5 anyway(The couple of payments that do get taken out monthly are not actually DD's.) However since changing to the new o2 refresh plan last month the 2 bills are now separated meaning 2 direct debits come out of my account.
I'm not sure if I'm just being really silly and there's an obvious answer- but will that count seeing as they are both for the same company? Or would it be best to just check with Halifax directly prior?! Thanks and sorry if that didn't make sense I tend to ramble

These are two seperate offers:
For the £100 you can simply switch an account with a couple of SOs on it (as I did).
However, if you want the ongoing £5 per month you need to "pay two different direct debit mandates" each month. There's been much discussion on this board about whether two mandates to the same DD originator count or not. My personal view is they should. Just out of interest, why two DDs?...two phones or one for the phone and another for broadband or insurance or...?0 -
Yeah I know they are, I just thought it would be more worthwhile to switch if I was getting the extra £5 each month as well haha
Yeah it's all a bit confusing as to what should count or not, I guess everyone has their own opinions on it.
It's only for the one phone but they've split the bill up now- one part for the phone that can be paid off before the two year contract's finished and the other for the contract, that carries on for the full 24 months regardless of whether you upgrade phones in that time. I think it's just so you're not tied into keeping the same phone for two years, silly really...
Thanks for the reply thoughLightbulb moment: 16/06/2020

Try it and see, if you don't get the £5 you can simply setup a DD to a savings account and that'll sort it, then after 12 months you can withdraw that money and call it your xmas bonus
It's what I'm planning on doing for the TSB 4% Vantage accounts, £2.50 per DD for 6 DDs, should have about £180 in there now.0 -
I am contemplating switching to Halifax as well for the same reasons. I do have various DD coming out of my account - do they get transferred automatically once you switch?London Fashion Week tickets, Clinique Facial treatment set (I see it as a win :P) Mario Power Tennis Wii game, Aura by Swaroski perfume, Theatre Tickets to 'A woman alone' :T, £1000 with Kerrang's Scream4Cash, Links of London Wedding Themed Bracelet, Chipmunk O2 launch party tickets, Adidas All In gig tickets, Water For Elephants Double Bill tix0

I've got a couple of token £1 DDs set up an an old Egg account. Seems to be enough to qualify for the £5. The £750 a month is only in there for seconds. Don't use the poxy account apart from withdrawing the £5 monthly - cut the cards up as soon as I got them.0

I have started the switch to Halifax reward account, does anyone know when the £100 is paid in?If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in0
