I too have loads of onions - alas bought, not grown with my fair two hands!
I love caramelised onion chutney and was about to suggest the same to the OP. Do you have a good recipe by any chance?

Talking of which....look at the "sticky" section at the top of the OS forum and you will see squeaky's old style Index collection - there are onion relish/chutney recipes on there.One life - your life - live it!0

To be honest I would just refreeze them myself! They just might clump together a bit (but I've frozen onion together and find a whack of the lump-o'-onion on the counter soon sorts it out)
