Well it seems my freezer decided to defrost itself overnight, thankfully the only causalities was a couple of packets of bacon and allllll my onions left from my harvest. I'm looking at around 6 bags of 500g and an odd bag.
I broke down and cried when I thought of my harvest going to waste so any ideas would be amazing
Thanks for any help

Definitely: fry them gently & slowly so they caramelise a bit - they can then be added to almost anything, except chocolate cake, and will make wonderful soup.0 -
Ooooo thanks, for some reason I never thought about cooking them up and re-freezing them. Would it be ok to use already cooked onions in the slow cooker, or will they go abit dodgy??Nessy x

I think it would be better to use already cooked onions in the slow cooker. I think they don't cook very well from raw in a slow cooker.Opinion on everything, knowledge of nothing.0 -
if your bacon has defrosted as well you might as well use it and a load of the onions to make a bacon and potato hotpot.0

I too have loads of onions - alas bought, not grown with my fair two hands!
I love caramelised onion chutney and was about to suggest the same to the OP. Do you have a good recipe by any chance?0 -
You could turn them into soup, with garlic toasts for tomorrow. Or cook and re-freeze, as suggested already. Or make some pasties by adding some corned beef and carrot gratings plus the onions, and some mashed or cubed cooked potato, and then you can freeze those perhaps. They're good cold or hot.

Onion bajis, onion rings. I have a load too (also shop bought), and so far I've made onion marmalade, and soup. There was a suggestion for Lotus flower onions in another thread, but you may have to use whole onions for that.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 Jul £134.25/£150 Aug £119.37/£150 £89.67/£150‼️Sep £/£160 Oct (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month.
